A dance shop will carry almost everything needed for rehearsing and performing all types of dance. Shops made specifically for a particular type of dance, such as ballet shops, ballroom shops, or hip hop shops, are great for more advanced dancers who need very specific accessories or clothing.

Most dance shops will carry all types of dance shoes, various forms of dance apparel and dance costumes, and many different dance accessories. Although you can find a lot of necessary dance items at various department stores, you will likely find higher quality and more options at a dance shop.

A specialty dance shop will have even more options. It is easiest to find ballet dance shops as they have more specific shoe, apparel and accessory needs than other dance styles. Plus, ballet is one of the more popular dance styles. Jazz, tap, belly, ballroom, and hip hop dance shops are existent. The best way to find these shops is to use an online search engine or phone book.
