Why can tutus be so expensive?

High quality tutu’s can cost up to $2,000 just to make. They typically require 60-90 house of labor and over 1000 yards of ruffle fabric.

Is social dancing good form of exercise?

On average, one social dancing class burns about 238 calories, the equivalent of a 4 mile walk. It is a mild form of exercise that is good for your frame, heart and muscles as well as reduces stress.

How long will Pointe shoes last and when can I wear them?

A professional ballerina will go through two to three shoes per week; however that is with extensive and rough use. How long they last will depend on the skill level and the intensity of the dancer and dance class. Most dancers will have to take at least 3 years of ballet and be over the age of 12 before they are allowed to go en Pointe.

What movements do I need to be able to do in my dance clothing?

The seven movement of dance are bending, gliding, turning, stretching, jumping, rising and darting. So basically, your dance clothing should allow bending and moving at all speeds and all directions.
